Radiator Valves

A radiator valve does two things — it regulates the flow of hot water into your radiator to control temperature, and it finishes the connection between your pipework and your radiator in a way that either blends in or stands out depending on the finish you choose. Our radiator valve range covers straight, angled and corner connection types in manual and thermostatic configurations — available in chrome, matt black and brushed finishes. Browse below or call our team for advice on the right valve type for your installation.

Manual vs Thermostatic Radiator Valves — Understanding the Difference

Manual radiator valves require you to turn the head to adjust the heat — simple, reliable and the most cost-effective valve type. Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) automatically regulate the heat output based on the room temperature — they detect when the room has reached the desired temperature and reduce the water flow accordingly, which improves energy efficiency and keeps the room at a consistent temperature throughout the day. TRVs are the recommended choice for most rooms and are particularly worthwhile in bathrooms where temperature consistency and energy efficiency both matter.

Straight, Angled and Corner Radiator Valves — Which Do You Need?

The type of valve you need depends entirely on how your pipework enters the radiator. Straight radiator valves are used when the pipes run horizontally along the wall or floor and connect to the radiator in a straight line. Angled radiator valves — the most common type in UK bathrooms — are used when the pipes rise vertically from the floor and need to turn 90 degrees to connect to the bottom of the radiator. Corner radiator valves are similar to angled but allow the pipe to turn in a different plane — useful for specific plumbing configurations where a standard angled valve does not work. Always confirm your pipework position before ordering valves.

Matching Your Valve Finish to Your Radiator

Radiator valves are visible components and their finish makes a real difference to how the overall radiator installation looks. A chrome valve on a matt black towel rail immediately draws the eye for the wrong reason — always select valves in a finish that matches or coordinates closely with your radiator. Our valve range is available in polished chrome, matt black and brushed finishes to suit the most widely specified bathroom radiator finishes in the UK.
