In the heart of Darlington, where local businesses still know their customers by name and word-of-mouth carries more weight than advertisements, our story quietly began.

More than five years ago, our family started what would later become The Bathroom and Tile Centre. At the beginning, it was not just about selling bathrooms, tiles, or furniture – it was about building trust within our local community. Like many family businesses, the first days were full of long hours, learning experiences, and a lot of determination.

We believed that bathrooms were more than just functional spaces in a home. They are places where mornings begin, where people prepare for important days, and where families unwind after long evenings. Because of that, we always treated every bathroom project as something personal.

In those early days, customers would walk into our showroom in Darlington with ideas, sketches, or sometimes just inspiration saved on their phones. Many didn’t know exactly what they needed – but they knew how they wanted their space to feel. Our job was to listen, guide, and help turn those ideas into real bathrooms.

Slowly, project by project, our reputation began to grow.

Friends recommended us to friends. Neighbours told neighbours. Builders and installers began working closely with us because they knew we cared about quality just as much as they did.

Over the years, we have proudly supplied bathrooms, bathroom furniture, and tiles to more than 5,000 customers. Each one had a different vision – from modern minimalist bathrooms to traditional family spaces filled with warmth and character.

Every order, whether large or small, mattered to us because behind every purchase was someone improving their home.

As our family business grew, we began noticing something important. Many customers were looking for modern, practical wall solutions – something stylish, durable, and easier to maintain than traditional tiling. That’s when the idea for Showerboard was born.

Showerboard became a child company of The Bathroom and Tile Centre, created with the same family values and commitment to quality that built our original business. It focuses on high-quality shower panels and wall boards that make bathroom installations faster, cleaner, and more modern.

While The Bathroom and Tile Centre continues to provide full bathroom solutions – from bathtubs and vanity units to tiles and fittings – Showerboard focuses on delivering sleek, contemporary wall panel systems designed for today’s homes.

Even as the business has grown, one thing has never changed: we are still a family-run company at heart.

When customers visit us, they are not dealing with a large corporate chain. They are speaking with people who genuinely care about helping them create a beautiful bathroom. Many of our customers return years later, sometimes bringing their children who are now renovating their own homes.

Those moments remind us why we started.
